Brera/Music is back! Live in the rooms of the Pinacoteca di Brera

In June, a double date with Brera/Music, live in the Pinacoteca and online on pinacotecabrera.org.
This month returns Thursday evenings with live music in the museum rooms: third Thursday of the month, three hours of music, for three euros starting from 6 p.m.

Brera/Music is back! Live in the rooms of the Pinacoteca di Brera Hour: 6:00pm to 10:20pm (last admission 9:00pm)

Entrance: 3 euros from 6pm (reservation required)

On Thursday, June 16th, from 6pm to 10:20pm (last admission at 9pm) it will be possible to admire the entire collection of the Pinacoteca di Brera.
At the same time, young musicians will play in the beautiful rooms surrounded by the museum’s artworks.

As always, the musical evening offers the public an opportunity to admire the entire collection, visit the renovated rooms and, of course, listen to the young performers, who will be located in different rooms within the Pinacoteca: the choice of program stems from the emotions suggested by the paintings.
The students will also be available to answer questions from the audience, in an unusual, dynamic exchange between the arts.

PROGRAMMA

PUY DE SAINT-CYR
Composed of early music specialists from Belgium, France, Italy, and Spain, the ‘Puy de Saint-Cyr’ was born in the summer of 2020 inspired by the ancient brotherhoods of musicians and poets originating in northern France that spread to many cities from the mid-13th century until the early 18th century. Members of the ‘puy,’ both men and women, would gather to make music together by competing in composition, poetry and improvisation contests, thus forming a refined and brilliant intellectual and artistic hub of the community.
Dedicated to the performance of rare and little-known pages from the medieval and Renaissance repertoire, the ‘Puy de Saint-Cyr’ aims at the rediscovery of a careful and musically curated historical practice, interweaving the musical performance with moments of poetry and recitation, to capture the imagination of contemporary audiences and take them by the hand on a journey into a fascinating past with surprisingly bright and vivid colors.

Dowland’s teaparty
Dowland’s teaparty is a program dedicated to chamber music in England in the 16th century, the era of the great lutenist John Dowland, Alfonso Ferrabosco-semi-unknown in Italy but very famous at the English court-, Robert Johnson and Antony Holborn. The program is built from fantasies for solo lute, songs and several compositions in dance form, soft and languid in character but also amused and bright, hinting at personal entertainment, a moment for oneself in the quiet of a late rainy English afternoon at tea time.
