The two paintings, which were hanging in the Barbisoni residence in Brescia in 1760, are masterpieces by Ceruti painted in c. 1735. This painting, a marvellous picture of daily life worthy of Manzoni, was donated to the Pinacoteca di Brera by Giovanni Testori, an art historian, playwright, journalist and leading cultural figure in late 20th century Milan.
