Giulio was the elder of three brothers who dominated the art scene in Cremona and then in Milan. In this youthful work, the scene is set in a landscape inhabited by horsemen advancing in the snow. The sainted group in the foreground, accompanied by a glory of angels, stands out in a poorly defined space, combining sophisticated elegance with realistic details such as the purple cushion, the fur on which the baby Jesus is resting or the peasant garb of the Blessed Alberto of Bergamo.
