This work, belonging to the abstract French neo-Cubist strain of painting after World War II, marks a move in Estève’s work away from structured, geometric forms towards a more decorative linear style. The composition is a jumble of abstract elements of pure colour opening in the centre into a light, airy space and extending out all around in deeper-coloured longitudinal bands. The picture was shown at an exhibition entitled Pittura moderna nelle collezioni private italiane in Turin in 1961.
