Russoli Pop Up
On March 21, 3 of 18 drawings from the 1970s commissioned from great artists by Brera’s director, whose revolutionary spirit is revived on this day, will be exhibited at Brera.
Hour: 8:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. (last entry 6 p.m.) Where: Pinacoteca di Brera Entrance: Included in admission fee | Reservation requiredThree never-before-seen paintings, three great artists exhibited to the public at Brera on a special date, March 21, the day of the death in 1977, only 54 years old of Franco Russoli, director of the Pinacoteca for twenty-three years (1954-1977) and whose centenary of birth (July 9, 1923) falls this year.
A great supporter of the idea that a museum should collect the art of its time, the “Franco Russoli Pop Up” initiative wants to celebrate the director who made it his mission to create a “living museum” following the imprint left by director Fernanda Wittengs. Thus, in the Sale Napoleoniche, on March 21 and for that day only, three of the 18 drawings that in the 1970s, Russoli commissioned 18 major contemporary artists, including Moore, Sutherland, Manzù, and Guttuso, paintings that would enter into dialogue with the Pinacoteca’s masterpieces will be exhibited.
