On September 24th and 25th, the Pinacoteca di Brera celebrates European Heritage Days 2022, which on Saturday 24th will include a special evening opening from 6-10.20 p.m. (ticket office closing at 9 p.m.) at the symbolic cost of 1 euro.
Every year, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism joins the European Heritage Days (GEP), an event promoted in 1991 by the Council of Europe and the European Commission with the intention of enhancing and encouraging dialogue and exchange in the cultural sphere among European nations. It is an extraordinarily important opportunity to reaffirm the central role of culture in the dynamics of Italian society.
The initiative, as is now a tradition, is also joined by a great many non-state cultural venues including civic museums, municipalities, galleries, foundations and private associations, building an extremely varied cultural offer, with a calendar that often comes close to a thousand events.
The Italian theme of GEP 2022, “Sustainable Cultural Heritage: a legacy for the future,” takes up and expands on the European slogan “Sustainable Heritage,” chosen by the Council of Europe and shared by the event’s member countries, and expands it with a reflection on cultural heritage as a legacy for future generations.
