The painting, restored in 1973 by Giovanna Turinetti (from the Pinacoteca di Brera), is the pendant of the Portrait of a Young Man by the same artist. The two works are rare examples of Tanzio’s portraits. The high quality of this painting can be perceived in the virtuosity of the neck ruff and cloth, as well as in the realism of the representation, which can be seen in the woman’s face and especially in her right hand placed on the womb.
