This sacred conversation peopled with half-figures, in which the angel offers the Christ Child a floral wreath, belongs to a cycle of religious works by Moretto whose enormous popularity is borne out by the large number of replicas they spawned.
The artist brings his own peculiar sensitivity and sophisticated palette, consisting in delicate hues and softly moiréd textures, to this composition of Venetian inspiration, thus enhancing the serenity of its intimate mood and its sheer humanity.
