This man with his magnetic gaze, achieved with a few brush strokes, made a huge mark on Brera. A painter, collector, man of letters and poet, supporter of Napoleon, socialite and ladies’man, Giuseppe Bossi was the Accademia’s Secretary from 1801 to 1807, drafting its agenda and its statute endowing it with a collection designed both to offer students examples of excellence and to educate the wider public. He wanted his museum to be socially useful, committed and attentive to visitor’s needs.
