JazzMI and the Pinacoteca di Brera

The Pinacoteca di Brera is a trove of priceless treasures that will exceptionally be opened for JAZZMI 2018 (ticket price € 2 starting at 18.00).

JAZZMI comes back to Milan from November 1-13 2018 to tell the story of the universe through jazz in all of its declinations: its history, its reality, its future, the genres it converses with and it is contaminated with.
Over 150 events and more than 500 artists will invade Milan for the third edition of the festival. Thirteen days of concerts of great national and international musicians, exhibitions, interviews, workshops, meetings, collaborations and more.

The entrance to the museum, and the concerts that will be held inside, will be at the special price of € 2 starting at 6.00 p.m.

The duo composed by Giovanni Digiacomo on saxophone and Gennaro Cotena on guitar has already undergone various musical experiences in jazz festivals and exhibitions, both locally and internationally. The formation offers a repertoire based on the American jazz tradition. Although the training is small, elements like dynamics, rhythm, and interplay, are the main characteristics of their sound.

The Impressions Duo, formed by singer Simona Daniele and guitarist Lorenzo Barcella, was born in 2016. The two soon began to perform in various clubs in Milan and the province as well as in numerous reviews, playing for JAZZMI, Area M, FAI, Theater Verdi Suite Lab. The absence of instruments such as double bass and drums obliges the two musicians to deal with often unprecedented formulas, but at the same time leaves great space for the interplay, in a continuous dialogue where both can express their creativity while maintaining different points of contact with the jazz tradition.

Redi Hasa and Rocco Nigro will bringthis extraordinary event to a close, with their “Mediterraneo-Contemporaneo” performance.
The duo offers a repertoire of unpublished pieces and unusual melodies, compositions inspired by the pursuit of essentiality. Musical roots that connect two shores of the Mediterranean, evoking ancestral sounds that draw from the great tradition of the Balkans and Southern Italy, and lead to results very close to the inventions and the climate of the best contemporary music.
