Warrior Saint

Johannes Hispanus

Johannes Hispanus was a wandering artist who travelled in different regions of Italy. He
was in Milan. He was near Mantova. He was in Casentino because there is a work in
Poppi. This painting is very interesting because it is a copy of a saint from the now dispersed Altarpiece of San Cassiano Antonello da Messina painted for Venice, which makes the work all the more more interesting because it introduces us to the fragment of a lost painting by Antonello da Messina.
