Saints Faustinus and Jovita Appear in Defense of Brescia under Attack from Niccolò Piccinino in 1438

Gian Domenico Tiepolo

This study has been variously attributed to both Giambattista Tiepolo and his son Giandomenico. The prevailing view is that it is an early study by Giandomenico – and in any case different from the finished work – for a battle in the fresco cycle he painted in the church of Santi Faustino e Giovita in Brescia in 1754–5.
