Oltre ai finanziatori privati già esistenti e agli Amici di Brera, per aumentare il potenziale di raccolta fondi è stata creata l’Associazione di Partner Brera (APB) che ha permesso e continuerà a permettere alle aziende italiane di unirsi per sostenere Brera, e anche l’Associazione American Friends of Brera che consentirà a Brera di raccogliere fondi negli Stati Uniti offrendo la deducibilità ai soggetti americani. vision and the focus on the visitor as the key player in the museum’s life has also had an impact on the qual- ity of the services it offers, with changes also in pricing policy. Frequent visits are now encouraged with a full- price ticket at € 10 having a validity of three months, thus allowing visitors to become temporary “Friends of Brera”. In addition to this, a scheme has been in place since the summer offering admission at € 2 on Thursday evenings, thus allowing a younger audience to visit the Pinacoteca. The number of visitors on these latter evenings frequently topped the 1,000 mark. FINANCIAL AUTONOMY. Another aspect of this stra- tegic development was linked to the new guidelines in Minister Franceschini’s reform on financial independ- ence. “By independence, we mean the independ- ence to spend, but also to build a report that is also a tool for assessing yearly results”, the direc- tor explained, “because in addition to the financial results for the year, we will also be testing visitor satisfaction and our economic impact on the wid- er Milan area and in the media.” This new-found independence is precisely the factor that has allowed private-sector partners and sponsors to join on the basis of two new tools. In addition to the museum’s existing private-sector partners and to the Amici di Brera, the Associazione di Partner Brera (APB) was set up in an attempt to increase the museum’s fund-rais- ing potential, allowing Italian companies to join in supporting Brera, and an American Friends of Brera Association was also established to allow Brera to raise funds in the United States by offering US taxpayers the option to deduct donations and contributions from their income tax bill.
